As progress on Southwest’s The Wharf by Hoffman-Madison Waterfront continues, last night the developer unveiled a new lighting installation on the Francis Case Memorial Bridge. The installation, which brightens the bridge with a long strip of light, was designed by Citelum, the urban lighting company that’s worked on Eiffel Tower.
In addition to the dozens of restaurants and residences, not to mention the entertainment venues and office space, The Wharf will also bring D.C. and its surrounding areas daily water taxi routes when it opens in October 2017.

Not that this, or the sound of jackhammers pounding away at our eardrums, does anything to temper Seth Hurwitz’s enthusiasm.
The co-owner of the 9:30 Club and chairman of concert-booking group I.M.P. regularly fills a half-dozen of the city’s big music venues. But this one is something else.

“The Wharf Shack” Takes Part in the Culinary Transformation of DC’s Waterfront
WASHINGTON, DC, April 4, 2017 - Officials from Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW), the developer of The Wharf, today announced that Shake Shack will open in Fall 2017. The Wharf is the $2 billion, mile-long waterfront neighborhood along the Washington Channel of the Potomac River—the new food destination of the nation’s capital.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jan. 24, 2017 –I.M.P., the independent concert promotions and production company that owns the 9:30 Club, reveals today the long-awaited name of its new venue: The Anthem. The $60 million concert venue is part of The Wharf, the Southwest Waterfront development by PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette. Opening its doors for the first time October 12, 2017, and just blocks from the National Mall, The Anthem will have a flexible capacity of anywhere from 2,500 to a maximum of 6,000, with numerous seated and general admission configurations. It accomplishes this as the 9:30 Club does, via a moveable stage and backdrop, virtually undetectable from one capacity to another.
